There are a lot of things to love about September, but one of the greatest things of all is the kick-off of a new KidzJam season! We are so excited to begin another year of fun, learning, and interaction with our virtue of the month. In fact, we’re so excited, this KidzJam is chock-full of high energy, fun music, GIVEAWAYS, and other surprises.

Kidz, bring your parents out for a night of hilarious and engaging family fun!

THIS IS SUMMER.

But, in the midst of all the fun and sun, our EpicKidz have found a way to make a difference in the world… specifically, in Birmingham, Alabama! In June, we learned about the virtue of Responsibility: showing you can be trusted with what is expected of you. Then we found a way to live it out. Our high school students served alongside Habitat for Humanity to build a house for a family in need. They spent the week doing physical labor that reaped eternal benefits. Some of these high schoolers are our small group leaders in EpicKidz. What better way to show responsibility than to partner with the students and Habitat than to raise money for gift cards from Lowe’s and Home Depot? We collected the whole month long and sent down over $350 in gift cards to go directly to the family. Even states away, it was awesome to see God use the EpicKidz to show His love. This summer, we’re taking a step off the beaten path to introduce our first ever 8-week summer series, Chase the Light. We are loving what we’ve learned so far about the people that Jesus came in contact with and how their lives were changed forever! Each week, your child has been learning about one of the “misfits” that Jesus met through both video and live storytelling. In this series, we will focus on one main principle, or Bottom Line, each week, and each Bottom Line will build on the previous week’s Bottom Line. By the end of the series, we want the stories of the “misfits” that Jesus spent time with to have a marked impact on the life of your child. We will also be doing a service project each week that illustrates the concept of each Bottom Line.

For your family to get the most out of this experience, please use these resources to continue to teach your child at home about what they are learning at Chase the Light. Together, we can make a greater impact on your child’s life than either of us could do alone.

Refigerator Door Cards: These cards have the week’s Bottom Line, the Bible reference for the story, and a conversation starter to help you dialog with your child about what was taught at church.

GodTime Cards: GodTime cards encourage the children to begin the habit of setting aside special time with God each day. They include a verse to read, a question to answer and a short activity.

Thank you again for allowing us the opportunity to partner with you as you encourage yoru child along his or her spiritual journey. We are looking forward to spending time with your child as we Chase the Light!

And, wouldn’t you know, it’s our virtue for the month of May. Funny how things work out. We are really enjoying what we’ve learned so far in EpicKidz. We’ve explored the story of Jacob and Esau, and how Esau’s impatience cost him more than he could have known. Last week, we talked about the Israelites’ impatience and how that led them to worship a golden cow. A golden cow! They were being led through the desert by the One True God, and they compromised and settled for a lesser god because of their impatience. Yesterday we got the whole large group involved in the re-enactment of Joshua and the Battle of Jericho!

This whole month is about Patience, and our EpicKidz are doing a great job waiting for something they really want… an ice cream party! So don’t forget to bring the spoon you got at KidzJam on May 30th. We will have an awesome ice cream party at the end of Large Group to celebrate the patience you’ve shown at home and school. There’s nothing we love more than throwing parties, but to be able to reward you all for waiting… we love that even more!

Each week, we learn our bottom line for the Bible story. This month we’re specifically talking about:

If you don’t wait, it could cost you
(Esau and his birthright)

Don’t get tired of doing the right thing
(Moses and the Israelites – the golden calf)

Don’t miss out because you think you can’t wait
(Joshua and the Battle of Jericho)

If you don’t wait, it could hurt others
(A Western sketch that teaches the principle of patience)

Our fifth week will be another venture into one of our Faith Skills! Join us on May 30th, not only for the ice cream party, but where we TAKE PRAYER OUT OF THE BOX!

It’s Vinny’s birthday and the gang is going to throw him a surprise party! Ssshhh!!!

All you have to do is look out your window to see new life springing up everywhere. Spring is one of my favorite seasons. Everything is just beginning to bloom and, well, let’s face it, there’s still a chance of snow because we live in NEPA. That’s our reality! But you step outside and you feel the first warm rays of the sun, you see the flowers beginning to peek out of their buds, and you can’t help but praise the God who created this beauty, this majesty. I mean, if we don’t praise Him, all of nature will! (Psalm 148)

This month in EpicKidz, we’re going to be talking about friendship…

What better way to spend time with someone you trust and enjoy than to be OUTSIDE enjoying the beautiful spring weather?! The same God who created everything you see around you, all that beauty, made you to enjoy friendships. We were not created to be alone, and God wants us to have healthy friendships with those we love and trust!

Each week this month, we’ll look at a different aspect of friendship.

April 11 ~ A true friend will help you believe ~ Jesus appears to Thomas
April 18 ~ A true friend will make time for you ~ Breakfast with Jesus
April 25 ~ A true friend will always be your friend ~ Jesus ascends to heaven

We are so excited about what we get to learn this month! Join us every Sunday at 9:30 & 11:15am at either our Clarks Summit or Dickson City campus. We can’t wait to see you there!
