More than just a tingly feeling…

L… O… V… E.
There is more power in that one word than almost any other in any language. Love makes people do some crazy things. A hero rescues the damsel in distress for love, facing terrifying villains and horrible creatures to win her hand. Soldiers fight for their country because they love freedom. Missionaries who go into the deepest jungle to spread the good news… that God loved us so much that He sent His Son to save us.
That is more incredible than anything anyone could ever do for love.
So this month we’re talking about …

What if we all got serious about loving others… even if we didn’t feel like it? Sometimes it’s easier to just leave someone alone, let them deal with things their own way. But if we really want to love them, we give them our time and friendship no matter what.
What if the person we need to give our time and friendship is mean? What if they don’t do the same thing for us? Doesn’t matter. God wants us to love Him and love others. Everyone sees how much we love God when we love those around us. Even if they’re mean. Even if they don’t want it. Even if they’re different from us. Even if they use silly words like “guesstimate.”
So let’s see what we’re going to be learning about each week this month.
August 2 – When you love God, you’ll love others :: The Greatest Commandment :: Matthew 22:34b-40
August 9 – When you love others, you give them your time :: Jesus at Mary and Martha’s house :: Luke 10:38-42
August 16 – When you love others, you’re quick to forgive :: The Parable of the Prodigal Son :: Luke 15:11-24
August 23 – When you love Jesus, you’ll treat others the way He does :: Jesus reinstates Peter :: John 21:15-19
August 30 – FAITH SKILL :: Dialogue with God (public and private) :: Talking to God changes things
On top of everything else, we’ll be moving into our newly remodeled Clarks Summit campus the first weekend in September! Exciting times are ahead and we can’t wait to see what God has in store.
