Jack Sparrow Blackbeard

Captain Hook King Solomon
What do all these people have in common?
You probably wanted to say “They’re all pirates!” but then you got to King Solomon. What does he have to do with Jack Sparrow, Blackbeard, or Captain Hook?
All these guys were treasure hunters.
Yep, you read it right. Treasure hunters. Where the real pirates looked for buried treasure hundreds of leagues under the sea and on deserted islands, Solomon was far more concerned with a greater treasure. What was the treasure Solomon was after? Let’s go on our own treasure hunt right now. Ready?
Okay, first, find a Bible.
Open up to the book of Proverbs. It’s right after Psalms, which is right smack dab in the middle of the Bible.
Go to chapter one.
Start at the very first verse. Your 13th word is our virtue for this month.
Are you there? Did you find it?
With the help of my highly skilled treasure hunters, I can now present to you our virtue for this month:
WISDOM – Finding out what you need to do and doing it.
The book of Proverbs is full of wisdom… it’s a treasure chest of wisdom! God wants to give us wisdom, to give us understanding on how to live life and make wise choices that honor Him. But how do we get wisdom?
This month we’re going to find out. We’re going on a hunt and we’re not going to stop until we hit the treasure. We’re going on a treasure hunt for wisdom. Are you in? I promise you, it’s worth searching for.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6, NIV
