baptism…

as a lot of you know, we have a baptism celebration coming up on sunday, may 31 @ 6:00 pm. if you didn’t know that, then now you do. if you are a student who is interested in being baptised that night please shoot me an e-mail at micah.woodard@parkerhill.org or to jason at (jason.castelli@parkerhill.org).
baptism is one one of those things that i never understood. i always knew it was something that we are told to do after we give our hearts to christ, but i never “got it”. i say “got it” because i knew it was important and good, but i never “got it”. let me try to explain it this way. when something great happens in your life like you win the championship, or you get accepted into your dream college, or you get married, you are all excited and you want to jump around and tell everyone how great life is. (at least that’s what it was like for me) the day that i “got it” was the day i saw my dad baptise a man named john moffatt. john was a proper, english man. he was somewhere between prince charles and james bond. all that changed the day that john was baptised. it was a good thing that he was the only one being baptised that day because as soon as he came up out of the water he started jumping around, dancing, yelling, and laughing. there wasn’t much water left when he was done. needless to say he was very excited. ever since then i have loved seeing people get baptised. i love celebrating along with them.
i say all that to say this…whether you know someone who is being baptised or not, come next sunday, may 31 @ 6:00 pm and support and celebrate with those being baptised.
